William has just finished his third year of university at Vancouver Island University. He is a biology major focusing on molecular biology. His future plans include medical school and scientific research. He came up with the idea of this ride with the hope that he could play his small part in generating awareness of this debilitating disease and raise funds for research. In accordance with recent scientific findings, he has observed that cycling greatly reduces the effects of Parkinson's on his father and is thus keen to promote cycling. William is an avid road cyclist himself and rides daily with his father.
Bruce is a well known West Coast boat builder and boat designer. He is also an instructor at Vancouver Island University for the aluminum boat building program. He was a member of the Canada II sailing team (boat builder) for the 1987 America's Cup. He currently works full time designing aluminum boats and yachts. He is an avid cyclist. When not on his road cycle, you can find him on his Ducati motorcycle. Despite the challenges of Parkinson's Disease, he leads a very busy and productive life.
Wayne was born in New Zealand and became a Canadian citizen in 1972. A long competitive athletic career in running - marathons, ultra marathons, and tri-athlons, was shortened after a serious off shore sailing accident. After recovery, cycling was his primary choice of exercise for fitness. A retired Marina manager he is now travelling extensively but is excited about this new challenge and hopes his efforts can help the team reach their ultimate goal.
